ENVIRONMENT EFFECTS STATEMENT
Melbourne Metro is being assessed through an Environment Effects Statement (EES) process.
The EES is an integrated evaluation of the potential environmental, social, economic and planning aspects of the project, and the approach to managing the impacts.
We have also prepared a draft Planning Scheme Amendment (PSA). Changes to the Planning Scheme are being recommended to protect the tunnels, stations and associated infrastructure and guide future development in their vicinity.
The Melbourne Metro EES and draft PSA will be on public exhibition from 25 May to 6 July 2016.
Five new stations
Expressions of Interest
Expressions of Interest (EOI) are now being sought to deliver two Metro Tunnel work packages.
The Tunnel and Stations work package is a Public Private Partnership that will deliver the nine kilometre twin tunnels and five new underground stations.
The Rail Systems Alliance will design, develop and deliver signalling, communications and other related systems.
Details for both tenders can be found at the Victorian Government Tenders website.
From Monday 23 May to Friday 27 May, we will be temporarily closing Franklin Street between Swanston Street and Victoria Street.
This closure will allow us to undertake preliminary investigations to identify and confirm the location of underground services.
This work will inform planning and design for the relocation or protection of services in the vicinity of the Melbourne Metro tunnels and stations.
